VINCENT KOMPANY IS LEAVING MANCHESTER CITY AFTER 11 YEARS IN THE CLUB

News Today can confirm that Manchester City Defender and Team Captain Vincent Kompany is leaving the Etihad after 11 years in the club.

City stated that Kompany’s last match with City was the Saturday FA Cup Final against Watford that saw them Win 6-0 lifting the FA Cup.

Kompany, who has been the Team’s Captain has played for Manchester City for the past 11 years and helped the team lift 4 Premier League Titles, 2 FA Cups, 4 League Cups and 2, Community Shields.

 In the 360 matches he has played for the Manchester side, 265 of them in the Premier League,  the Defender has scored 20 goals in different matches.

Speaking to the Press, Manchester City Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak paid tribute to Kompany terming him as ‘the biggest contributor to the team.’

“He defines the essence of the club. For a decade, he has been the lifeblood, the soul and the beating heart of a supremely talented squad. There have been many contributors to Manchester City but arguably none is more important than Vincent Kompany.”

He said.

Kompany, also addressing the media stated that it was his time to leave the club despite it being his home for the past 11 years.

“As overwhelming as it is for me, the time has come for me to go. And what a season to bow out. I feel nothing but gratefulness. I am grateful to all those who supported me on this special journey and at this special club. I remember the first day as clear as the last. I remember the boundless kindness I received from the people of Manchester.

I will never forget how Manchester City Players remained loyal to me during the good times and especially, the bad times. Sheikh Mansour changed my life and that of City fans all over the world and for that, I will forever remain grateful. A Blue nation has arisen and challenged the well-established order of things. I find that awesome.”

Kompany said in a statement.

Manchester City has let go of a Great defender and it is not known with whom they will choose to replace him.
