16 people have perished with several others nursing injuries after a bus they were traveling in got involved in a grisly road accident along the Mwingi-Garissa road on Monday morning, News Today has learned.
This is after the bus registered to Nasiib Sacco collided with a trailer at Tula area along the busy Mwingi-Garissa road.
Reports indicate that the bus left Nairobi on Sunday evening at around 4:00 PM and was headed for Wajir at the time the accident happened.
Speaking to the Press, Tana River North Police Commander Tom Okoth confirmed the incident and stated that investigations had already begun so as to determine the cause of the accident.
Okoth also stated that they were checking on hospital records where survivors could have been taken so as to determine the number of casualties from the accident.
It is not clear as to what could have led to the accident and the paramedics and authorities are currently on the ground.
