DOZENS OF SCHOOL-GOING CHILDREN FEARED DEAD, HUNDREDS TRAPPED AFTER A 4-STOREY BUILDING COLLAPSED IN NIGERIA

Over 50 school going children are feared dead with hundreds trapped after a three storey building in Nigeria’s Lagos collapsed a few hours after the day’s classes began, News Today has learned.

According to the Lagos State Government, the building, which housed a Private school and Apartments collapsed at around 10:00 AM on Wednesday and the cause is yet to be known.

Speaking to the Press, National Emergency Management Agency Spokesperson Ibrahim Farinloye said that there were fears that hundreds of people among them children and adults were trapped in the building. He further added that plans were underway to rescue those who are alive and retrieve the bodies of the deceased.

So far, 10 children have been pulled out from the rubble even as rescue teams work together to try and save the rest of the children feared to be trapped in the rubble.
