UGANDAN GOVERNMENT ADDS CURVY WOMEN INTO THEIR TOURISM ATTRACTION BUCKET LIST

Feb 07, 2019 | Jimmie Kariuki

The Government of the Republic of Uganda made a shocking announcement on Wednesday stating that curvy women in the country were part of the tourist attraction in the country.

According to Uganda’s Tourism Minister Mr. Godfrey Kiwanda, the way Ugandan women concentrate on their waists and curvy backsides has a story behind it and that is the story that should be sold to tourists who visit the country.

“We have very naturally endowed and nice looking beautiful women that are amazing to look at. Why don’t we use these people as a strategy to promote our tourism industry?” The Minister wondered pointing to a number of women present in the press briefing.

He further went ahead to state that the Ugandan traditional dances would play a great role in selling the country’s culture hence bringing in the country more revenue.

On morality grounds, the Minister reiterated that it was not about females being abused and immoral but about appreciation ‘for what they have.’

The Minister faulted the life-long tradition of only parading slim girls to welcome tourists and work in the Hospitality sector stating that bringing the curvy girls on board would help ‘diversify’ the culture and tourism sector in general.

According to Mrs. Anne Mungoma, the Chief Organizer the event will be held as a way to promote a whole Ugandan Attitude and include more natural Ugandan beauties into the Pageant that seek to show to the world what endowed Ugandan Beauty looks like.

She also added that the pageants would not be limited to a certain age but also include older women.

“We are going to show you what an endowed Ugandan Woman looks like. With no offense, everyone is endowed but we are talking about the real curvaceous ladies..” Mrs. Anne was quoted by the Daily Monitor.

After the briefing, several women dressed in figure-hugging clothes cat-walked along a swimming pool in the Kampala hotel where the briefing was held before taking photos with the Ministry officials.

However, the announcement has been met with criticism and acceptance on an almost equal measure with some likening the decision to the story of Sarah Beartman, a physically deformed woman who died at age 26 about two centuries ago after spending years in Freaky Tv. Shows where she would get invites from people so that they could stare at her behinds.

Others also feel that the announcement will lead to increased rates of promiscuity especially among school girls who feel that they are ‘up to the task.’

"The government might be in the business of getting money but isn't that glorified prostitution?' Somebody in our midst wondered.
